What happens when we die 2
There is a God of the living and a God of the dead.
Who is the God of the living?
Matthew 22:32 ".......... God is not the God of the dead, but of the living." This is repeated in Mark 12:27 and Luke 20:38.
Jesus was speaking to the Sadducees on a question about the resurrection. Jesus Christ is the God of the living.
Who is the God of the dead?
History tells us tht the immortality of the soul is a pagan doctrine in which the ancient Egyptians believed. There are many deities in Egypt who were associated with death, but none as prominant as Osiris. He was god of the dead and the ruler of the underworld.
What is the underworld?
The place were a dead person's soul would go to be judged, is called the underworld. The ancient Egyptians believed that a person's soul would have to pass a series of tests in the underworld before they were allowed to enter the afterlife where they would live forever.
Osiris is also known as the god of resurrection into eternal life, ruler, protector and judge of the deceased.
Just look at the claims Osiris makes; god of resurrection, ruler, protector and judge. Who holds these titles? Jesus Christ is the only One that can stake a claim to these titles. Osiris surely is claiming to be God.
Who else wanted to be God? Is it not satan; then known as lucifer? Remember, he was thrown out of heaven, with a third of the angels, because he wanted to be God. To the occultists, Osiris is an alias for satan.
Jesus Christ is God of the living. satan is god of the dead. With this information, do we think that there would be deceptions around what happens when we die? A BIG YES!!
